Paul Martin

Professor Paul Martin is the director of the Australian Centre for Agriculture and Law at the University of New England. He has been at various times an agribusiness executive, agricultural marketer, consultant, venture capitalist, frontline environmental activist, and Chair of a Catchment Management Authority and various companies, before becoming an academic researcher focused on rural law and policy issues.

Under his leadership, AgLaw has focused on researching rural legal and governance issues such as rules to control invasive species, water policy, social justice, the governance of agricultural technologies, and the funding of rural land stewardship. That diverse background has given him a broad view of the dynamics of change, particularly in rural areas, and the challenges and opportunities that change provides.
