Novelist, poet and songwriter, Janie Conway-Herron, comes from a well-known musical family. She has performed in many bands in inner-city Melbourne and Sydney and toured nationally.
After gaining her doctorate in Creative Writing at Western Sydney University Janie coordinated the Creative Writing Program at Southern Cross University, Lismore for many years. Her essays, poems and short stories have been published in a range of journals and anthologies and her first novel, Beneath the Grace of Clouds, was published in 2010
Since 2004 Janie has conducted women’s writing workshops for the NGO Altsean Burma. The resulting anthologies of women’s stories have been distributed internationally. The next anthology will be launched in early 2020
Janie has recently recorded a collection of songs to accompany her second novel, Another Song About Love, a fictional memoir set in 1970’s Australia. The book and the collection of songs bring Janie’s creative worlds –music and writing– together for the first time.
