Dr Emma Doolan is a lecturer in creative writing at Southern Cross University. Her research explores Gothic representations of place, particularly in writing about Australia’s hinterland regions. She is also interested in modernism, feminism, ecocriticism, pop culture, and creative writing research.
Outside SCU, Emma has worked with award-winning writers to develop their manuscripts for publication. Her creative work has appeared in Overland, Geek Mook, and REX, and in 2016, she was shortlisted for Hachette Australia’s Richell Prize. She is currently writing a Gothic psychological thriller set on the Victorian coast, featuring a spooky lighthouse and vanishing penguins.
