I am a proud, Dunghutti, Bunjalung and Djabugai Woman. I grew up in Redfern, but have lived on the Coffs coast for the last 23 years. Language and Culture have always been extremely important to me but in the last few years of my life my passion and commitment to these has grown enormously.
I work at Woolgoolga High School in Aboriginal Support, this is where I discovered Gumbaynggirr Language, I first started learning at the Aboriginal Homework Centre with Clark Webb using the ASLA method Developed by Professor Neyooxet Greymorning an Arapaho Man from the USA. A spark ignited in me and I became extremely devoted to learning the Gumbaynggirr language in order to teach my children, who are Gumbaynggirr and help in the effort to revitalise the language. I completed a Certificate 3 through Muurrbay Language Centre at Nambucca Heads and have since become a board member of Muurrbay. There is great strength in language and I continually endeavour to do my part in order to reclaim what was taken from our people.
