Neeyan Smith has grown up being told stories of Gumbaynggirr dreaming, living and being in Gumbayngirr tradition and spirituality. She has studied teaching and is currently studying youth work. As a mother, she feels the urgency of passing Gumbaynggirr knowledge and strength on so that it is kept alive through younger generations. She is particularly interested in working with contemporary technologies to maintain and support Gumbaynggirr dreaming in the present. She is currently working as a teacher aide at Scotts Head Public School and is a language trainee at Muurrbay Aboriginal Language and Culture Co-operative.
