Jane Hutcheon presents One Plus One on ABC TV, where she’s interviewed notable people from all walks of life since 2010. From 1995 to 2008 she reported for the ABC from China, the Middle East and Europe, covering the major news stories in those regions.

Jane was born in Hong Kong where her father was a newspaper editor and her mother was also a journalist.

She is the author of two non-fiction books, From Rice to Riches: A Personal Journey Through a Changing China and her more recent China Baby Love, published in 2017. The latter is the story of Linda Shum, a devout Christian grandmother from Gympie in Queensland, who set up the Chinese Orphans Assistance Team, which grew to encompass foster homes and a school in China.

Jane now uses her wide travel experience as a part-time tour leader, accompanying small groups and delivering lectures on the history and personalities of destinations from the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf to Africa.

‘There’s a gentle artistry to Hutcheon’s interview invisibility, far more evident in person than through the screen…the way her carefully un-judging eyes rarely leave your face…’ The Saturday Paper, February 2017, reviewing One Plus One.

‘The author’s touch is light and deft: those familiar with her work will instantly recognise the wonderful, characteristic, empathy and desire to find the good in everyone.’ Richard D Hughes’ review of China Baby Love
