Bob Brown

Dr Bob Brown is an Australian environmentalist, medical doctor and former Senator and leader of the Australian Greens. He was awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize for his role campaigning to protect Tasmania’s Franklin River. In 1990 he founded Bush Heritage Australia and, following his retirement from politics in 2012, established the Bob Brown Foundation which focuses on protecting nature through direct action, advocacy, legal defence and science.

Bob has written a number of books including memoir and photography books (with Peter Dombrovskis). His latest book is Defiance: Stories from Nature and its Defenders (2025).
