Alex Caminer has always been drawn to the big questions. It’s a curiosity that has spiralled him through the hard sciences and the social sciences, through corporate halls and idealistic ones, in relentless pursuit of making sense of our complex world, and the behaviour of us curious creatures who stumble through it.

But never has he felt more at home than behind the counter at Alternatives Bookshop, Bellingen’s bookshop and unofficial thinking room, where he has curated a trove for nature lovers and deep thinkers. It is from this perch, as a listener, a questioner, and a joyful guide through difficult ideas, that Alex steps into the festival moderator’s chair.
