Jason John

Jason’s melding of Dr Seuss and Pam Ayres with politics, sex and religion saw him win the 2019 Bellingen Poetry Slam, and place third at the Australian Poetry Slam final the same year. His performances, and the book which emerged from them, can be found at ecofaith.org

In 2020 he returned as MC for our “Covid slam” on zoom, then shivered in the showgrounds tent with everyone else. He can’t wait to get back into the Memorial Hall, this time watching our performers tremble with adrenaline, instead of being one.

He has twice facilitated a week of poetry penning and performing at Camp Creative, and is looking forward to seeing some of the students’ polished pieces on stage, along with other newcomers, and some much loved familiar faces.
