LOCAL AUTHOR SHOWCASE

ALTERNATIVES BOOKSHOP
Stories grow here. Start your Festival weekend by joining us for an intimate evening with five local authors. You’ll hear the history buried in the Nambucca Valley, stories from the frontlines of Australian education, the art and philosophy of a local digital artist, animals and waterways brought to life for young readers, and stories of Gumbaynggirr Country told through fiction. It’s a celebration of the voices who call this region home.

WRITING FOR WRITING’S SAKE
Saturday 6 June, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
BELLINGEN LIBRARY
Take home a short story. Join writer and designer Rachel Grisewood in creating-writing exercises that will inspire and challenge you using prompts and active imagination. There will be two sessions, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. These workshops are FREE! Bring a pen, paper and a healthy dose of imagination.
Rachel runs Writing Practice groups in Bellingen, at the Library every Saturday and at Hyde Café every Wednesday.

CHILDREN’S STORYTIME

Who doesn’t love storytime? Come along and enjoy songs, rhymes and stories with your little ones. Suitable for children ages 3–7 years old.

YOGA IN THE STACKS
Sunday 7 June, 8–9 a.m.
BELLINGEN LIBRARY
Immerse yourself in books at this yoga class with a difference. You will be guided by Paulinee Brink, a certified vinyasa teacher, who you may know from Promised Land Yoga. And now the library! Paulinee loves supporting others to experience the full benefits of yoga, bringing a sense of balance and inner calm to your Sunday morning.

PLACE, TABLE READING
with Malcolm McFarlane, Jack Thompson and Bryan Brown
Sunday 7 June, 12 p.m.
CITIZENS ROOM, MAAM GUDUYING PARK
Place is a contemporary stage drama by Malcolm McFarlane, featuring Jack Thompson. In a Festival first, we’ll be taking over the Citizens Room at Maam Gaduying Park for a live reading of the script. Featuring Malcolm and Jack themselves, alongside BRWF Patron Bryan Brown, Zac Burgess, Isaiha Kelly, Gabrielle Hammond and Mayada Oso, this promises to be a very special event.

EXPERIMENTAL PRINT WORKSHOP
Saturday 6 June, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
THE STABLES, BELLINGEN
Create prints using Tetrapak etching and discover how to make your own etching press at home. You’ll learn how to make prints from your designs and how to keep printing long after the workshop is over.

INSPIRE SONGWRITING WORKSHOP
Sunday 7 June, 10 a.m.–1 p.m
THE STABLES, BELLINGEN
This introduction to lyric writing and song structure will inspire you and take your songs to the next level! This workshop is packed with fun and interactive lyric-writing lessons, with local published musician Tony Rowley (who performs as Titan Sky).
