DEBRA OSWALD is an author, playwright, television writer and co-creator and head writer of the successful TV series Offspring. She won the 2011 NSW Premier’s Literary Award for the Offspring tele-movie script and an AACTA for Best TV Screenplay. Other television credits include award-winning episodes of Police Rescue, Palace of Dreams, The Secret Life of Us, Sweet and Sour and Bananas in Pyjamas.
Debra’s stage plays have been performed around the world and published by Currency Press. Gary’s House, Sweet Road and The Peach Season were all shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Award. Gary’s House has been performed in translation in Denmark and Japan. Mr Bailey’s Minder was produced in Philadelphia in 2008. Debra has also written four plays for young audiences – Dags, Skate, Stories in the Dark (NSW Premier’s Play Award in 2008) and House on Fire.
Debra has written three Aussie Bite books for kids and 6 children’s novels, including The Redback Leftovers, Getting Air and Blue Noise.
Her first adult novel Useful was published by Penguin Australia in January 2015.
