The granddaughter of renowned Australian author Frank Hardy, Marieke is a screenwriter, author, blogger, radio presenter, and part-time mud wrestler. A one-time RRR & Triple J broadcaster, in recent years she’s been a regular co-presenter on ABC TV’s The Book Club. A collection of her essays, You’ll Be Sorry When I’m Dead, was published in 2011.

Marieke received a Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship in 2015 and has spent much of the past two years working anonymously in “immersive theatre, live art and experiential theatre” at Dark Mofo, Brisbane and Melbourne festivals and the Adelaide Fringe festival. In 2017 she was appointed as the new Artistic Director of the Melbourne Writers Festival.
