Bellingen is a small town on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, halfway between Sydney and Brisbane.

The lush Bellinger Valley provides a stunning backdrop to the Bellingen Readers & Writers Festival (BRWF). Bellingen town is known for its picturesque main street, rich with architectural heritage and thriving cosmopolitan culture with ambient spaces for the eclectic range of shops.

The clear waters of the Bellingen River run through the town and past the Festival site providing the perfect place to relax mid-festival.


Travelling to Bellingen


Coffs Harbour (30mins drive from Bellingen) has the largest regional airport in NSW. QantasTiger and Virgin operate flights from Sydney and Melbourne.

To get to Bellingen from the Airport you will need to either hire a car or catch a taxi (not a cheap option).


Sydney to Coffs Harbour is approximately a 6.5hr drive or 516kms.
Turn west off the Pacific Highway at the Waterfall Way Bellingen sign and follow this road west for about 10 minutes into Bellingen.

Brisbane drive to Coffs Harbour is approximately a 5.5hr drive or 431kms.
On the Pacific Highway watch for Bellingen sign, 20km south of Coffs Harbour. The Waterfall Way State Highway (just north of Urunga) takes you to Bellingen in 10 minutes.

Coming from the west?

Travel via New England along the scenic Waterfall Way.
From the New England Highway, turn east onto the Waterfall Way at Armidale and follow signs to Dorrigo/Coffs Harbour.
