The way of the future? Online, digital and radio writing

KACIE ANNING is a writer / director / performer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film & Television from the Queensland University of Technology. In 2011, Kacie was accepted as one of eight directors into the Australian Film Television Radio School (AFTRS) post-graduate directing course. At AFTRS, she wrote and directed three shorts before being awarded the highly coveted Foxtel Scholarship for Exceptional New Talent at the year’s end.
In 2012, Kacie successfully crowd-funded the production of her 6-part web series Fragments of Friday which she wrote, directed and starred in 2015. Series 2 of Fragments of Friday was commissioned through Screen Australia’s multiplatform initiative. Both series were released online in 2015 with news.com.au heralding the show as “Australia’s answer to Amy Schumer”.
Kacie has worked in television commercials and online content for several years, writing and directing for clients such as Disney, Fairfax and the Sydney Opera House, for whom she created the web series Minister For Men featuring Gretel Killeen. In 2016, Kacie was chosen to direct the promotional trailer for the short film festival Flickerfest’s 25th Anniversary. Kacie is also developing several projects across short- and long-form comedy and drama. www.kacieanning.com
